A few days’ ago, I put a teaser on Facebook about an upcoming story; how one woman is making a difference in India. Mahita Nagaraj became fed up with the Scaremongering and started “Caremongering,” an organization to bring a little kindness to the elderly and others in India who do not have family support during the COVID-19. Interesting, the idea began in Canada and has now spread to many countries in the world.
It did not taken long for “Caremongering, in India grow. Mahita said, “it started with one phone call from a friend asking for help for her elderly parents.” Then a Facebook posting suggested people in similar situations contact Mahita if they needed help. The phone has not stopped ringing.
People are not only calling for help, “they are calling to offer help to address the loneliness and helplessness many older people are feeling,” said Mahita.
And it is not only in Canada and India. In Britain and the USA, neighbours are helping neighbours, and compassionate stories are coming from all over the world.
In just a few weeks the India “Caremongering, have grown to where Mahita Nagaraj said, “I have received thousands of calls and messages and we have organized 100’s of requests for assistance.”
All over the world, people are selflessly reaching out to help any way they can and Mahita Nagaraj is just one example of the 1000’s who are there for their neighbours and friends.
