Over the past few weeks, COVID-19 and all, the passion for things home-made has come out in thousands of people. It began with a run on toilet paper, which quickly morphed into a 600% increase in sales of yeast and flour.
Even Costco ran out of 10 Kg bags of my favourite Rogers unbleached flour and to this day, still has not been able to restock my favoured Red Star Yeast. Checking with my friends at Save-on-Foods, they are just starting to get yeast supplies after being out for many weeks.
Ah, ha; problem solved, Sourdough Starter and buying a larger bag of flour. Boy, that 20 KG bag was a haul home. All the effort though has been worth it for me and for thousands of others. Congratulations; If I can do it, you can too.
